ist es normal dass die Würmer am Winter (6 - 8 C - Wurmkiste) in die Tiefe wandern?

Hallo Allatin,

Kompostwürmer wie der Red Wriggler / Eisenia fetida oder auch Eisenia foetida genannt können zwar durchaus Temperaturen bis knapp über dem Gefrierpunkt (5 Grad Celsius) aushalten bevorzugen aber angenehmere Temperaturen zwischen 15 und 25 Grad Celsius. Daher ist es durchaus möglich das die Würmer sich bei extrem warmen oder kalten Temparaturen lieber tiefer in das Substrat ihres Wohnraumes zurückziehen wo sie etwas angenehmere Temparaturen vorfinden können. Wenn das kalte Wetter vorbei ist werden sie aber sicher wieder nach oben kriechen um neues Futter zu verspeisen.

Achten Sie aber bitte auch auf die mögliche Präsenz von Larven der Soldatenfliegen. Diese sind zwar auch gute Kompostierer aber die Kompostwürmer halten sich nicht gerne in deren Umgebung auf und flüchten in der Regel vor ihnen in die tieferen Schichten ihres Substrates. Sollten die Soldatenfliegenlarven nicht entfernt werden kann dies zum kompletten Verlust der Wurmherde in dieser Wurmfarm führen.
