Can different types of worms live in the same worm bin

Hello, will different types of worms fight or do they co-habitat. I have a 1meter x 1-meter worm bin for household vegetables and obtained a drum of two-year-old horse manure which has thousands of worms in it. I also have 25 1-year-old organic grown avocado trees with 6 inches of mulch wood chips with large pink worms in it. Will the different worms fight and kill each other or will they co-habitat?
Thank you for your reply.

Kind regards

Mark

Hello,

Different types of compost worms can live together in the same worm farm as long as the environmental conditions are ok for both kinds of worms.

They will however not interbreed with each other and I suspect that the pink worms that you found amongst the wood chips will prefer a different environment than the worms you found in the horse manure. Those worms are probably red and will probably be proper compost worms.

So although the worms will not harm each other the pinkish worms will most likely not like such a rich organic environment as the red compost worms.

If you can take photographs of the different types of worms I could have a look at them at well.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

Kind regards
