Dog poop and cat poop for a worm bin?

by Megan Barlet

Why only dog poop and not cat poop? We have cats too and all that is in the litter box. Can we use cat poop?

Hello Megan,

thank you for your interesting question. As a matter of fact compost worms can as well consume dog poop and do so in large quantities. To learn more about the subject have a look at my article I wrote about the recycling of cat poop. The URL. is

https://www.worm-composting-help.com/cat-poop.html

Please read the whole article including the attached information about the possible health risk of Cat poop and cat litter.

We have recycled cat waste and dog poop for many years without any issues but it is always better to be cautious.

Wishing you all the best for your worm composting project.

Kind regards and God bless
