A worm bin with lots of kitchen waste as worm food

Good day, I am interested in worm composting and would like to know. When would be a good time to start a worm bin?

I would like to compost my kitchen waste and maybe some garden clippings.

For any advise I would be grateful.

Hello SK,

thank you for your interest in worm-composting-help.com. I am glad to hear that you are considering recycling your kitchen waste with the help of earthworms. A worm bin is an excellent and natural way to convert organic kitchen waste into nutriient rich soil conditioner.

Generaly it is always a good time to start a worm bin, especially if you are living in a country with a mild climate. But in my optinion the best time to begin worm composting is in springtime when there is no chance anymore of freezing temperatures, which could be dangerous and potentially deadly for your worms if their worm bin in unprotected and exposed to the ice- cold weather. In Europe and most areas of the United States Spring is now beginning to show its beautiful face and this will be perfect for starting a worm farm outdoors, in a garage or a store-room in the garden.

All you need is a single plastic container of at least 5 gallons / or 20 Liters and you could be on your way.
